Forget-me-nots entered into the public mind during the 15th century through fable. “Forget-me-not, O Lord!” is what a German knight exclaimed as he fell into a river. He was picking flowers with his Lady by the side of the river at the time, enjoying the beautiful day around them, and yet as fate would have it, the knight fell in and his armour dragged him down to the bottom. Upon his cries to the Lord, he threw the blue posy of flowers to his loved one and drowned. This little tale reportedly dates to around the 15th century, but no doubt had different permeations along the way, as romantic stories often do. Hence, the concept of remembrance, eternal love and faithfulness grow from this.

A thoroughly charming and pretty Georgian flower cluster ring with six petal shaped turquoises, tested to be natural and a central seed pearl. These have been collet set in a 15ct mount. The shoulders are flanked either side by two small round turquoises , a seed peal in the centre and another little round turquoise to the side. The pearls have not been tested but in my professional opinion should be natural, in keeping with the period and appearance of the pearls. The shoulders are delicately engraved with pretty flowers and leaves adding to the charm of this lovely ring.
