A rare pair of matching Berlin Iron bracelets from the Napoleonic era, signed by esteemed jewellery maker, Geiss.

Berlin Iron has great significance as well as being beautiful and lace like jewellery, made, as the name implies of hard iron.

During the Napoleonic wars, Prussia had exhausted much of its revenue in the war effort. As the Prussian war of liberation went on, men offered their services and some their jewels to the Royal Treasury in an act of patriotism. Ladies that did, received iron jewels with the motto ‘‘ice gab geld um Eisen’’ (I gave gold for iron).

These pair of bracelets are Prussian , ca.1800 and the iron is in super condition.
