A gorgeous, amethyst and enamel pendant ca 18860-1880. A beautiful peacock is intricately caved with gold work and encrusted with pretty, twinkling rose cut diamonds within the amethyst. This is an extremely difficult and skilled process to carry out and requires a highly skilled craftsman. During this delicate, artful process, it is important that the amethyst remains intact and doesn’t fracture or crack . The amethyst is oval shaped and lightly faceted. The frame is in Etruscan style and the back has a ‘bloom’ finish. This is a highly desirable and sweet piece. Wear it with a ribbon or chain.
